| As a one off, the golden boots were made specially for Paolo and made their debut during the Celtic v Aberdeen Boxing Day match. The boots became famous when Di Canio scored a last minute goal to bring Celtic a 2-1 win. The boots were then auctioned during a live Radio Clyde event for the Children’s charity, Cash for Kids, with Sports Division’s Managing Director Tom Hunter putting in the highest bid of £30,000 to secure the boots, beating lottery winner John McGuinness’ offer of £28,000. The generous lottery winner then donated his cash to the charity bringing the total funds raised to a staggering £58,000. | |
